STREET AND DRAINAGE
Mission Statement
To perform maintenance of streets, drainage and traffic control systems in a manner that will
provide for the safe and efficient movement of traffic and to ensure flow of storm water through
the enclosed drainage collection system.
The Street Maintenance Department general duties and responsibilities include: maintain and
repair streets, sweep streets and curbs, maintain and install traffic control devices (signs, signals
and pavement markings), maintain and mow city owned properties.
Accomplishments of FY2018
✓ Replaced 52,731 square feet of Revere Street with 2,248 tons of Asphalt (1,197 tons of
type B, and 1,051 tons of type D) from Ira Street to Vicki Street
✓ Replaced the 4200 block of Walthall with 60 Tons of Recycled Concrete, and laid 152 Tons
of Type D asphalt
✓ Replaced subgrade and 22 concrete panels (3,942 square feet) on Layton and 6 concrete
panels (1,120 square feet) on Chessie Circle
✓ Replaced 80 regulatory Signs
✓ Made 105 non-regulatory signs
✓ Repaired and replaced 17 traffic signals, along with installation of Battery Back-up systems
at Haltom Road/Broadway, and Haltom Road/Glenview
✓ Updated Battery Back-up Systems at the intersections of Carson/Midway, Silver
Sage/Western Center, and Haltom/Stanley Keller
✓ Swept 785 curb miles of streets which removed a total of 1,048 tons of debris from the city
streets
Objectives for FY 2019
➢ Install Battery Back-up System on the Traffic Signal Light at the intersection of Haltom
Road and Estes Park Road
➢ Decrease the amount of time for water/sewer street cut repairs
➢ Replace the subgrade and asphalt on Sally, Flippo, and Rusk in northern sector of Haltom
City
➢ Mill and overlay at least 5,000 square yards of Haltom City streets.
➢ Sweep 700 plus miles of city streets
➢ Finish the upgrading process of the Haltom High School Zone Lights
