Why this Budget Matters

The City's budget is more than a financial plan – it is the primary tool used to deliver the services residents
depend on every day. Every dollar allocated in this budget supports the City's mission of providing safe
neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, responsive customer service, and responsible stewardship of public
               resources.

The FY 2026-2027 Budget continues Bedford's commitment to maintaining the high level of municipal services
residents expect while investing strategically in the City's future. Resources are directed toward protecting
public safety, maintaining streets and utilities, preserving parks and public facilities, supporting economic
development, and modernizing the technology that enables City staff to serve the community efficiently.

Simply put, this budget is designed to:
Keep Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and emergency communications fully operational.
Maintain reliable water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
Preserve streets, parks, trails, and public facilities.
Continue investments in technology that improve transparency, customer service, and operational
                 efficiency.
Recruit and retain highly qualified employees who deliver essential City services.
Protect the City's long-term financial health through conservative budgeting and responsible reserve
                 management.

Every expenditure included in this budget was evaluated to ensure it contributes to the City Council's strategic
priorities and provides measurable value to Bedford residents.
