The Parks Division is dedicated to providing Bedford citizens with a well-maintained parks system. The Parks Division is
responsible for the maintenance and operation of 154.5 acres of park land, including the facilities and infrastructure on those
properties, such as the municipal aquatic centers, athletic elds, lighting, irrigation, and restrooms. In addition, the Parks
Division manages the city-wide mowing and chemical application contracts which service medians, rights-of-way, grounds
at City facilities, well sites and drainage ways.
The Recreation Division comprises three areas: Recreation, Seniors, and Cultural Arts. Each of these areas provides valuable
service to the residents of Bedford. Recreation is responsible for Special/Community Events, maintaining the managerial
contracts for Athletics, and handling the operations and staff at Roy Savage Pool. Senior staff are responsible for running the
Senior Center and all the programming and events that it entails. Cultural Arts manages a variety of community art projects
as well as any cultural special events that the City of Bedford hosts.
The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for the management of building operations and maintenance activities in
order to maintain and improve the City's infrastructure. Facilities Maintenance provides general maintenance, custodial
services, heating and air conditioning (HVAC) control, security and re system monitoring, and outstanding customer
service to 15 facilities spread throughout Bedford. Staff also coordinate annual elevator inspections, window cleaning, pest
control, carpet cleaning, oor maintenance, boiler inspections, re alarm system inspections, re extinguisher inspections,
and re sprinkler system inspections.
