Technology
Mission Statement
To provide for the operations and development of the City through the implementation and support of cost
effective technologies which enhance the efficiencies of City staff while facilitating effective information flow
between the City and its citizens.
Department Overview
The Information Technology department handles all aspects of networking, hardware and software,
telecommunications, web site management, cable channels, audio/video, building security, technical support,
and public information. Information Technology provides and supports desktop access to general purpose
software tools, business applications and adapt across multiple computing platforms, and external services,
data, or applications.
Provides “on demand” service and support for system and security administration, problem resolution or
coordination, acquisition research and assistance, and information requests relative to tools, data, and
applications.
Highlights/Achievements for FY2024
• Implemented Library Coin-op Kiosk solution.
• Received recognition from Texas Association for Telecommunication Officers and Advisors placing 3
rd
in the Use of Humor <$250,000 category for the “Mayor in a Bottle” Wataugafest promo video.
• Shop Small Video campaign, “Rewind to a Time Before!”
• Video Camera NVR replacements, Park Camera additions.
• Police Door Access control software.
• Updated Exchange and migrated to Hyper-V/Hybrid.
• Mitigated cybersecurity threats.
• Replaced Medic tablets.
• MyGov to Tyler migrations for Permits and Licensing.

• Enhance cybersecurity.
• Employee development.
• Financial server replacement for financial stability.
• Replace council devices as needed/desired.
• Improve website content and management.
• Provide additional employee training related to use of I.T. services.
