POLICE DEPARTMENT




               The Burleson Police Department (BPD) is committed to protect the lives, property, and rights of all. BPD
               will enforce all laws impartially while maintaining the highest degree of ethical behavior and professional
               conduct and strives to be part of the community that has empowered it to serve.

               Strategic Plan and Emphasis

                    SFA 4:   Public Safety
                    o Enhance emergency response services provided to the community
                    o Ensure adequate equipment and personnel needs are being met, including staffing, support and
                       training
                    o Continue community policing and risk reduction programs that create strong partnerships with
                       the public to promote safety throughout the community
                    o Strengthen partnerships with area public safety agencies to enhance safety to the overall region

               Future Goals in FY 2023-2024


                   o   Increase efficiency and reliability by transitioning to Axon body-worn and in-car camera systems,
                       which includes, but not limited to, unlimited storage, robust redaction software, and automatic
                       license plate readers (ALPR)
                   o   Increase community and officer safety by upgrading to the Axon Taser10 platform
                   o   Increase efficiency and supervision through the introduction of one police lieutenant, with
                       vehicle and equipment, to the command structure

                   o   Increase community crime prevention and engagement efforts with the introduction of a civilian
                       crime prevention and public engagement specialist
                   o   Maintain functionality and dependability through the replacement of duty firearms. Increase
                       officer accuracy and confidence by transitioning to a 9mm handgun with reflex sights and
                       weapon mounted light. Increase training capabilities by obtaining training firearms and
                       equipment
                   o   Increase current real-time information and intelligence capabilities by increasing the number of
                       Flock ALPR systems deployed throughout the city
                   o   Increase connectivity and secure a net cost reduction through the issuance of departmental cell
                       phones to sworn staff and select civilian employees

               Prior Year Accomplishments for FY 2022-2023



                   o   Added two lieutenant positions, vehicle, and equipment
                   o   Upgraded one sergeant position to lieutenant (midyear)
                   o   Added three school resources, including one sergeant, vehicles, and equipment
                   o   Added a property and evidence/crime scene technician (midyear)
                   o   Added a records clerk (midyear)
                   o   Acquired an intermediate incident command post and an armored medical rescue vehicle
