Intergovernmental expenditures are budgeted at $12 million for FY23 and represent an increase of
$1.6 million (15%) from the previous year’s budget. Expenditures in this category are for contractual
payments from the 4B fund to Trinity Metro for TEXRail. TEXRail is a 27-mile commuter rail line
that extends from downtown Fort Worth across northeast Tarrant County, through North Richland
Hills and Grapevine, and into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s Terminal B. TEXRail, is
served by nine station and began service in January 2019. Since opening, over 1.6 million passengers
have been served.
Since the enactment of the 3/8-cent sales tax for commuter rail in April 2007, payments to Trinity
Metro are in excess of $135 million.
