3.2 - Ensure regular replacement of water and wastewater facilities

Wastewater collection provides environmentally friendly conveyance of the City’s wastewater to the treatment facility operated by
the Trinity River Authority. Effectively managing and operating existing wastewater infrastructure to maintain a healthy
environment is crucial. The Wastewater Division proactively performs preventive maintenance throughout the wastewater
collection system. These operations include cleaning and inspecting 180 miles of sewer mains, 2,686 manholes and 3 lift stations.
The construction of new public infrastructure is inspected by the Engineering Division to ensure it meets all necessary
speci cations.
