FY2022 DISCUSSION
In March of 2020, the entire nation was impacted by the disaster declaration for the COVID-19 Pandemic
effectively suspending all business for the hotel industry in Fort Worth into the beginning of the 2021 fiscal year.
Even with state and local isolation and occupancy reduction orders rescinded, the recovery of the travel and
tourism industry continued to be slow for the first half of FY2021 but has started to gain momentum in the summer
of 2021. The revenue generated by the Hotel Occupancy Tax is estimated to increase by 13% in the FY2022
Adopted Budget. The Convention Center Legacy debt will be fully covered by revenue generated in the FY2022
year, without reliance on fund balance.
