Summary:

On June 23, 2020, the Arlington City Council created the
Unity Council made up of the fifteen (15) members of the
City’s Community Relations Commission and fifteen (15)
additional members appointed by the Mayor and Council
members. The Unity Council began meeting in July of 2020
and presented its recommendations to the City Council in
February 2021.

Recommendation 3.2.A suggested the creation of the
Community‐Outreach‐Networking‐Empowerment‐
Communication‐Tool (CONECT) – a centralized location for
resources and assistance.

Chief Equity Officer will convene a working group of K‐12
to explore this recommendation. Recruiting for the Chief
Equity Officer position will begin in November 2021.
