CIP AND CAPITAL PROJECTS FUNDS
FUTURE WASTEWATER AND WATER PROJECTS
Approximately $58.9 million in future wastewater improvements have been identified. These
are small diameter vitrified clay wastewater lines that otherwise had no issues. Since they are
vitrified clay, these lines need to be proactively replaced whenever the opportunity presents
itself. These lines are brittle and old, but can continue being in service as they have no other
issues.
Future water improvements needed are remaining water lines that need to be replaced due to
breaks/failures or being undersized and water lines that will loop the system. These water
lines will be replaced in a future water program. These lines will help improve water flow and
pressure into the system and reduce potential water stagnation.
OTHER UTILITY SYSTEM PROJECTS
FY2020-2021 UTILITY MAINTENANCE PROJECTS
Description: This project includes small, previously unidentified wastewater and water
line problems detected and repaired throughout the fiscal year.
Justification: The aging wastewater lines throughout the City are 30+ years old. The
lines are subject to ground movement, pulled joints, root infiltration and deterioration.
Many have inflow and infiltration problems. Systematic replacement will reduce
maintenance costs and customer problems.
Operating Impact: Savings are expected in decreased wastewater fees paid due to
prevention of inflow and infiltration into the system.
