                                                    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

     The City of Bedford Wastewater Division is responsible for the protection of public health and environmental safety through the
     collection and disposal of household and commercial sewer waste. This is accomplished by the repair and maintenance of sewer mains,
     line cleaning and video inspection of the City sewer mains and services. Rehabilitation of the sewer lines and manholes is performed to
     help reduce the infiltration of rainwater and sanitary sewer discharge.










                                                   FY 2019-2020 HIGHLIGHTS

        ∗ Replaced 435 linear feet of 27" sewer main pipe at Brook Hollow Park.
        ∗ Completed 106,357 feet of sewer main line cleaning.
        ∗ Completed 7,168 feet of video inspection of the sewer main for condition survey.
        ∗ Repair of 8 inch sewer main that collapsed and replaced 160 feet of main at 221 Bedford Road.
        ∗ Met current Sanitary Sewer Overflow Initiative (SSOI) compliance measures.
        ∗ Community outreach events canceled due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

         ∗ Maintain and assess the system to insure adequate capacity for future expansion.

         ∗ Continue to inspect and assess the collection system condition.
         ∗ Prioritize  areas for future rehabilitation projects in conjunction with street and water rehabilitation projects.
         ∗ To provide a sound collection system that reduces overflows and infiltration.

        Communicate & Engage with Citizens
         ∗ Respond to customer requests quickly and resolve in an effective manner.
         ∗ Build on public education and awareness of waste discharge and environmental issues that affect the wastewater system.
         ∗ Continue educating local businesses, apartment complexes and residents about the Fats, Oils and Grease Program.
