Department Narrative At A Glance

The City Attorney’s Office provides legal  38 Authorized Positions
counsel and advice to the Mayor, City Council,  Budget Break Down
the City Manager’s Office and all City Personnel Services $4,011,595
departments. The City Attorney’s Office is Operating Expenses 446,015
responsible for representing the City of Total $4,457,610
Arlington in lawsuits brought by and against the
City in county, district, and federal courts and for
prosecuting all actions in Arlington Municipal Budget Highlights
Court. The office is responsible for drafting,
approving, and preparing resolutions,  Department Budget Reductions Totaling: $229,543
ordinances, and contract documents presented  One-time funding for 2021 Reapportionment Project
to the City Council for consideration. The office $75,000
also provides legal advice relative to
employment matters, bankruptcy and collection,
real estate, land use, telecommunications, utility
franchises, open records and economic
development.

City‐wide Budget Impacts
FY 2021 expenditures are impacted by city-wide savings in employee insurance as well as funding pension UAAL costs in the
Debt Service Fund.
