Parks & Recreation Capital Projects



           Project Name                                      Project Description
         Annual Tree Planting 2019 -   This project provides for the introduction of trees into the urban forest and replacement of trees that have died at various
         Continuing Project     locations throughout the City. The project involves the installation of 3" caliper, drought tolerant, native or adapted trees.
                                Park facilities to receive trees includes Northfield Park and various other locations.








         Barfield Family Foundation Grant   A privately funded grant program will provide funding opportunities for various enhancements along the Little Bear Creek
         Program - Continuing Project  Corridor. Possibilities for enhancements include educational signage for native plants and animals and environmental
                                features along the corridor, cultivation of an extensive wildflower program with specific viewing areas and opportunities
                                for bird blinds and boardwalks in the Northfield Park natural area. If additional funding is granted in subsequent years,
                                similar type enhancement projects will be explored and implemented.






         Green Valley Raceway Historical   This project provides for the design and construction of an historical plaza adjacent to North Tarrant Parkway, east of
         Area - Continuing Project  Smithfield Road where the John Barfield Trail meanders through what once was the Green Valley Raceway. Proposed
                                amenities include an attractive pedestrian and bicycle plaza with benches, trash receptacles and signage with
                                information and photographs that celebrate the rich history of a bygone era in North Richland Hills.







         Hometown Lakes Pedestrian   This project provides for trail connections from the Walker's Creek Trail to the new pedestrian bridge crossing the
         Bridge Trail Connections -   northernmost lake of the Lakes of Hometown. The bridge  and bridge abutments are being installed by Arcadia
         Continuing Project     Development, and this project will provide for access to the bridge from the existing Walker's Creek Trail on both the
                                east and west sides of the lake.







         Iron Horse Golf Course   This project provides for engineering, professional services, and construction for the renovation of Iron Horse Golf
         Improvements - Continuing   Course. Professional services will include engineering, hydraulic and drainage studies for a base map of the golf course,
         Project                topographical map and schematic re-routing studies. Services will also include feature designs for configurations of
                                centerlines, tees, greens, fairways, hazards, practice areas and sand bunker reductions. The consultant will provide
                                preliminary cost estimates, irrigation design, floodplain evaluation and permitting, design development, construction
                                documents and construction oversight. Construction will provide improvements as defined in this project description and
                                justification.



         Linda Spurlock Park    This project involves the redevelopment of the existing neighborhood park through the design and construction of
         Renovation - Continuing Project  existing and new amenities based on stakeholder input meetings. Recommended park elements for the renovation of the
                                park include a new parking lot, a new pavilion, upgrade of playground equipment and support facilities.
