COUNCIL GOAL 8:

LOCAL AND REGIONAL LEADERSHIP

Strive to continue to build relationships among other
cities and parties with similar interests, sit on
committees that set the direction for our region and
be proactive to influence the direction of key issues.

Objectives:

 Continue to be involved in setting direction for the region

 Build and maintain relationships that influence decisions in areas where we have an
interest

 Promote service and involvement that brings prominence as leaders that influence
the direction in key issues

 Lead by example, do it right

 Maintain leadership role on legislative issues

Accomplishments:

 Throughout the year, several City Departments were recognized by regional, state and
national organizations, including:

 Budget Department (Distinguished Budget Presentation Award)

 Finance (Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting)

 Purchasing ( Excellence in Procurement Award)
 Economic Development (Certificate of Economic Excellence)

 Keep NRH Beautiful (Keep Texas Beautiful Sustained Excellence & Gold Star
Affiliate Awards)

 Library (Excellence in Library Services Award, Texas Achievement in Library
Excellence)

 Parks & Recreation (Adventure World Playground named in 12 Coolest Destination
Playgrounds in Texas from Mommy Nearest, 2018 North Region Conference Arts
and Humanities Programming Achievement Award for the NRH Signal Art Program)
