Skid Steer Loader Replacement (Unit 6630)

This project is for the replacement of a skid steer loader for the Public Works Streets Division. A skid steer loader is a small
four-wheel drive vehicle with the ability to move rapidly in and out of tight, congested spaces in a safe manner. When replaced,
the loader will be 11 years old.

The Street Division performs maintenance in drainage channels where low clearance bridges exist. Low bridges prevent large
front-end loaders from being used. The skid steer loader would also have advantages when working in street right-of-ways
due to the ability of this machine to smooth and grade dirt without having to block off a street, as is the case when using large
equipment to perform a backfill function. The Utility Division works in residents' backyards on a regular basis. The size of a
skid steer loader would allow for access to excavation sites. The Utility Construction Division would benefit from a skid steer
loader by being able to move materials from the stock pile to the trench in a more productive manner.
