PUBLIC, EDUCATIONAL & GOVERNMENT ACCESS
CHANNEL (PEG) FEE FUND
The Public, Educational and Governmental Access Channel (PEG) Fee is paid to
municipalities by state-issued cable and video franchisees pursuant to Chapter 66,
Section 66.006 (b). Chapter 66, Section 66.006 (c) restricts the use of the PEG Fees to
expenditures “as allowed by federal law.” Essentially, the 1% PEG fee must be spent on
capital cost items for public educational and governmental access channel facilities.
In FY 18 available PEG Fund balance is expected to be allocated for eligible capital
expenditures to improve audio visual capabilities in our Council chambers.
