OPERATING FUNDS REVENUES
ADOPTED BUDGET
General Fund and Debt Service Fund revenues and transfers for 2018-19 - projected to be $21,425,302 - are $1,785,225
or 9.09 percent over the 2017-18 re-estimate of $19,640,077. General Fund revenues and transfers for 2018-19 total
$20,233,765 for a net increase of $1,616,137 or 8.68 percent over the 2017-18 re-estimate of $18,617,628. Debt Service
Fund revenues and transfers total $1,191,537 in 2018-19 for an increase of $169,088 or 16.54 percent over the 2017-18
re-estimate of $1,022,449.
General Fund and Debt Service Fund revenues, excluding transfers, for 2018-19 - projected to be $20,820,558 - are
$1,689,955 or 8.83 percent over the 2017-18 re-estimate of $19,130,603. General Fund revenues for 2018-19 total
$20,133,765 for a net increase of $1,516,137 or 8.14 percent over the 2017-18 re-estimate of $18,617,628. Debt Service
Fund revenues total $686,793 in 2018-19 for an increase of $173,818 or 33.88 percent over the 2017-18 re-estimate of
$512,975.
PROPERTY TAX RATE AND REVENUES
The 2018-19 Budget includes maintaining the property tax rate at its current rate of $0.6400 per $100 valuation. The
General Fund rate decreases by one-half cent to $0.6125 to $0.6075; the Debt Service portion of the property tax rate
increases from $0.0275 to $0.0325.
The City of Benbrook is projected to experience property tax revenue growth in 2018-19 due to a net increase in
assessed valuations for Benbrook. On July 25, 2018, the Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) provided the City with final
assessed valuation totals for use in computing property tax projections and in preparing "Truth in Taxation" notices.
Assessed valuations increased by approximately 9.50 percent in a comparison of total values.
For the Operating Funds (General Fund and Debt Service Fund), revenue from ad valorem taxes in the amount of
$13,584,458 for 2018-19 is projected to increase by $1,471,483 from the 2017-18 re-estimate of $12,112,975. Current
property tax revenue is projected to increase by $1,462,483 from $11,905,000 to $13,367,483. Revenue from delinquent
property taxes is projected to increase by $4,000 from the 2017-18 re-estimate of $141,500 to $145,500. Revenue from
interest and penalties is projected to increase by $5,000 from the 2017-18 re-estimate amount of $62,300 to $67,300.
