CITY PROFILE
The City of Southlake has built a national reputation for excellence through thoughtful planning,
exceptional municipal services, award-winning development, exemplary public schools, sound financial
stewardship, and an outstanding quality of life. Located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the
fastest-growing major metro area in the United States since 2020, adding approximately 339 new
residents per day according to U.S. Census Bureau, Southlake stands out even among its high-performing City Profile
peers, with a median household income exceeding $250,000, the highest among mid-size cities in
Texas, and more than 70% of adults holding a bachelor’s degree or higher. The City continues to earn
recognition at the national level across multiple platforms and publications. In 2024, Niche.com ranked
Southlake the #1 Best Suburb to Live in America and one of the nation’s best places to raise a family.
In 2025, ViewHomes Team ranked Southlake the #2 Best Suburb in America across a 600-city livability
analysis, and GoBankingRates named it the #7 Wealthiest Suburb in the nation. Most recently, in 2026,
MoneyLion ranked Southlake the #8 Wealthiest Suburb in America, and Niche continues to award the city
an A+ overall rating, recognizing it among Texas’ top communities for public schools, safety, and family
life. On the fiscal side, the City has earned the Government Finance Officers Association’s Triple Crown
Award for six consecutive years, a distinction held by only 441 governments nationwide, recognizing
excellence in budgeting, financial reporting, and popular annual financial reporting. The City has also
earned the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Local Government Excellence
Award for its innovative Community Services Agreement program. These recognitions, combined with
nationally ranked schools, low crime rates, and a thriving local economy, affirm Southlake’s standing as
one of the premier communities in the United States.
Southlake is predominantly served by Carroll ISD, consistently rated for excellence in academics by the
Texas Education Agency. Enrollment at the school’s 11 campuses is just under 7,870 students, 99% of
which will enroll in college. Equally exceptional in athletics and extracurricular activities, the Southlake
Carroll Dragons have gained a national reputation for all-around excellence.
