FOCUS ON THE FUTURE

We’re committed to implementing the Future Land Use Plan, Small Area Plans, and continuing to
modernize current regulations for the continued success of the City.

These actions will provide a roadmap for the City to create facilities, parks, dining, entertainment,
recreation, and employment opportunities that are inclusive to all families and age groups in the
community.
City Council will also be intentional about connecting with the next generation of Mansfield
residents and commit to making a greater effort to keep the public engaged and informed.

Goals:

1. Update the Mansfield 2040 Master Plan.
• Staff will begin future land use map updates where zoning cases are not in
accordance with the Mansfield 2040 Plan.

2. Modernize the existing code of ordinances with a focus on future needs.
• Evaluate current ordinances and development requirements to ensure other
desirable aspects, such as mobility/walkability are not hindered.
• Explore changes to the Community Design Standards for single-family
developments.
• Explore changes to off-street parking requirements to allow for flexibility and
modernization in calculations of private parking.

3. Intentionally connect with the next generation of Mansfield residents.
• Continue to expand the Internship Program and Mansfield Youth Council.

4. Make remarkable efforts to inform and engage the public.
• Hold Neighborhood Leadership Roundtable quarterly meetings with area
Homeowners Associations and Neighborhood Associations to discuss
neighborhood specific concerns, projects, and events.
• Continue offering City outreach programs such as Muni-versity, the Mansfield
Volunteer Program, and the Citizens Fire and Police Academies.
