Budget Summary
The Police Department includes eleven divisions. In FY 2024-2025, the Police budget increased only
4.93% despite adding seven new full-time equivalent positions. Some operations and maintenance costs,
such as software maintenance, were moved to the Information Technology Division. The step plan for
officer salaries which began in FY 2022-2023 helps to control personnel costs, as many long-time officers
reached their “top-out” salary. There were also several anticipated retirements which contributed to
personnel savings. The fluctuation in divisions is due primarily to personnel movements within the
department.
