FUND PURPOSE AND GOALS
The Community Tree Planting Program (Program), under the direction of the Planning and Resource Management
Division of the Park & Recreation Department (PARD), provides a variety of trees on public property that are of
exceptional quality, drought-resistant, well adapted to the urban environment, and of superior health and form.
Trees are grown and transplanted from the city’s tree farm to city facilities, parks, golf courses, parkways, medians,
and capital improvement projects. Trees are also provided to residents to be planted on city rights-of-way.
Benefits of the Program include the beautification of the city, improved air quality, reduction of stormwater
runoff, and a reduction in energy consumption.
