FUND PURPOSE AND GOALS
The Solid Waste Fund provides residential solid waste collection, recycling processing, and waste disposal, as well
as numerous other solid waste management-related services within the city. It fulfills these duties through the
internal staff responsible for key program elements and by using and managing contractors for operational solid
waste services.
The Solid Waste Fund has six functional areas: Contract Compliance provides management over seven solid waste
service contracts; Field Operations manages City forces that operate the drop off stations, the environmental
collection center, provide illegal dump investigation and clean up, litter abatement, street sweeping of key
strategic roadways and dead animal collections; Community Education provides public education and outreach;
Planning & Research develops and oversees long-term plans for Solid Waste and other areas within the Code
