Public Works Utility Risk and Resiliency Assessment UT2006
Project Description
This project is to conduct a risk and resiliency assessment mandated by the EPA and to create an updated Emergency Response
Plan.
Project Justification
This assessment is mandated by the EPA. A major piece of legislation, S. 3021 - 'America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018',
passed the Senate on 10/10/18 with a 99-1 vote. It was signed by the President on 10/23/18 and became Public Law No. 115-270.
The EPA will require Vulnerability Assessments (aka Risk & Resilience Assessments) and Emergency Response Plans to be
completed once every 5 years. The city must complete the assessment and send a certification letter to the EPA by December 30,
2020. The Emergency Response Plan certification letter must be sent by June 30, 2021.
