MISSION STATEMENT
To provide for effective administration of Public Works activities that ensures safe and efficient
water and sewer systems. To ensure that all water and sewer improvements, as well as all City
projects, are designed and constructed in accordance with City regulations and accepted
engineering and construction principles and practices.
DIVISION DESCRIPTION
The Engineering/Construction Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for the
overall supervision and administration of engineering and construction activities. The Engineering
Division is responsible for reviewing and/or preparing construction plans, issuing permits, and
inspecting new construction of all public water and sanitary sewer systems. The Engineering
Division also reviews and prepares long-range planning for water and sanitary sewer
improvements. The GIS staff within the Engineering Division prepares and maintains the water
and sanitary sewer inventory system, and maintains and updates all water and sanitary sewer
maps.
PRIOR YEAR RESULTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Completed design and began construction of the 44 Year CDBG Grant Project / Sheri
Lane from Reed to Cavender (water and sewer portion).
Coordinated with Trinity River Authority on completing construction of Walker-Calloway
Wastewater Outfall System Rehabilitation Project, Phase 1.
Coordinated with Trinity River Authority on finalizing design of Walker-Calloway
Wastewater Outfall System Rehabilitation Project, Phase 2.
Completed construction of Valley View Branch Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Replacement
/ SH10 to West Redbud Dr.
Completed construction of North Precinct Line Road Elevated Storage Tank Monitoring
and Treatment Unit, as well as Repairs to the 36 inch Riser.
Design and begin construction of 2019 Sanitary Sewer Replacements
Review of numerous private developments with public water and sanitary sewer.
