MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of the Support Services Division is to inform and engage the public; and to provide
building maintenance services and warehouse functions in an efficient and customer service
friendly manner.
DIVISION DESCRIPTION
The primary function of the Support Services Division is to inform and engage the public through
city publications, programs, social media, and the city website and mobile app. Working with the
City Council, City Manager, and other Departments, the Division handles marketing and
communications for the City including the Where We Live magazine and mobile app, newsletters,
brochures, website information, water bill inserts, and annual reports. The Division is also
responsible for developing and maintaining media relations and community engagement
programs such as the Hurst 101 Academy, the Youth in Government Program, and the Hurst
Hearts Campaign. Additional areas of citywide divisional support include mail processing and
postage, building maintenance, and warehouse functions.
PRIOR YEAR RESULTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Launched a new City of Hurst logo and tagline to enhance marketing efforts
Began mailing out monthly water bill inserts to residents as another communication tool
to promote timely programs and events in the City of Hurst
Partnered with the HEB Chamber, the City of Bedford and the City of Euless to offer an
even more dynamic Youth In Government program to high school juniors and seniors
living in Hurst, Euless and Bedford
Created and distributed Strategic Plan document sharing council’s vision for the City of
Hurst
Won state awards for our website, Where We Live magazine and Hurst Hearts video
Redesigned the Annual Report mailed out to residents
Mailed out more than 100,000 city publications including the Where We Live magazine
and annual report
Continued to grow our social media presence and share informative and engaging
content
Created our second budget video and placed on city’s website and social media to help
educate residents on budget process
Redesigned the Senior Pipeline, giving it a look that is more consistent with the Where
We Live magazine
Expanded video projects to include promotion of Hurst businesses and city departments
