CITY OF BENBROOK 2019-20 ANNUAL BUDGET
Upon adoption of the Joint Ordinance by both cities, some boundaries changed as specified in the Ordinance. In cases where
extraterritorial jurisdiction was transferred to Benbrook, Staff developed an Annexation Plan for consideration by City Council, in
accordance with State law.
Schools
In February 2014, the City sold 1.66 acres of property to the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) for the construction of a new
elementary school. In partnership with the City, the FWISD reorganized Benbrook schools to better serve our growing community. Benbrook
Middle School became Benbrook Middle/High School allowing for shifts in student populations. Benbrook Middle/High School and the
current Westpark Elementary School will morph into an education complex servings grades six through twelve. A new elementary school
will be constructed on the property sold by the City to the FWISD.
Residential Development
Benbrook is enjoying stable growth in the form of construction with new residences valued close to twelve million and with new commercial
buildings valued at over three million. Towards the end of 2014, four new residential developments were completed or under construction
adding a total of 307 new residential lots in the following areas: Whitestone Ranch, Phase 4; Brookside at Benbrook Field Addition, Phase
II; La Cantera at Team ranch, Phase III; and Palomino Estates, Phase II.
Public Investments
Public Investment projects use tax revenue to build projects that benefit the public, such as parks and park improvements, drainage projects,
and public buildings. The following projects were started in 2014: pavement of alleyway from Usher Street towards Benbrook Boulevard,
extension of Benbrook Parkway and Winbrook Drive to accommodate future economic development, and replacing and upgrading lighting
facilities at Dutch Branch Park. The following projects were completed in 2014: Hike and Bike trail from Benbrook Community Center/YMCA
