FY 2019-2020
Fund: General
Department: Police Division: Dispatch
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Dispatch Division assists the public with emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance and the prompt and accurate
dispatching of police, fire, and emergency medical personnel. The Division has the responsibility to staff and answer, on a 24-hour basis,
the 9-1-1 and non-emergency telephones upon which calls for service are received. The Division is the base of operations for all radio
traffic and the collection and dissemination of information relating to public safety incidents and the responding personnel.
FY 2018-2019 HIGHLIGHTS
∗ Conducted several training sessions for volunteers assigned as Call-Takers for the Emergency Operation Center.
∗ Received $20,123 in funding through the 2019 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Points) Assistance Program, facilitated through the
Tarrant County 911 District. Funds were utilized to purchase replacement computers for each of the three dispatch consoles, and
were also used to fund the build-out of GIS maps necessary for computer aided dispatching in the new Zuercher public safety
software.
∗ Continued to serve as hosting agency for HEB ISD students to complete observation requirements of a Dispatch Center. These
students participate in the HEB ISD Dispatch/Law Enforcement program.
∗ Successfully completed the audit facilitated by the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) every three years. The TCIC provides
access to law enforcement agencies throughout the state to data regarding the status of stolen property and the wanted, missing,
sex offender, or protective order status of persons. This data is entered by LE agencies which are required to participate in audits to
ensure accurate entry and dissemination of information supplied to, and obtained through, the TCIC database.
