                                                    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

     The Administrative Division of the Police Department provides leadership and support to all members of the public, as well as all Police
     personnel through fiscal responsibility and modeling of the City's values. The mission is to maintain an atmosphere of community
     partnership, provide transparency to the citizens, encourage continued training and education of personnel, and provide opportunities
     resulting in career growth and employee retention. The Administration considers each and every person to be a customer, be it a
     member of the public, a Departmental/City employee, or an individual from another organization, both public and private sector. The
     Division performs the administrative and logistical functions crucial to effective operations of the Department. The Division ensures the
     Department has the appropriate and necessary resources, personnel, technology, and equipment to support the overall day-to-day
     operations.




                                                   FY 2018-2019 HIGHLIGHTS

       ∗ Received grant funding for the purchase of thermal imaging cameras that will be installed on patrol vehicles. This equipment
         provides officers with the ability to assess surroundings at night to mitigate risks when responding to certain calls for service.
       ∗ Continued organizational restructure to encourage leadership opportunities to all levels of supervisory staff, and to maximize
         staffing and personnel resources.
       ∗ The Honor Guard presented Colors during opening ceremonies at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR XFINITY Series race, and
         lead the annual Medal of Honor Parade in Gainesville, Texas, which honors new Medal of Honor recipients, most of whom are in
         attendance.
       ∗ Began conversion process to transition to new public safety software.
       ∗ Received grant funding for the purchase of a police 6-passenger cruiser cart. This vehicle will be marked as a police vehicle, and
         equipped with lights and sirens. It will be used to patrol a variety of locations to include the Bedford Boys Ranch and the walking
         trails, but also will be used at special events around the City.

         ∗ Continue to develop local, state, and federal resources to implement or enhance Police Department programs.
         ∗ Maintain average response time to Priority 1 calls for service to under six minutes.
        Organizational Excellence
         ∗ Continue seeking state and federal grant opportunities in order to implement/enhance programs and services and/or purchase
           new technology.
         ∗ Ensure end-of-year expenditures throughout the Police Department are within the fiscal budget parameters authorized by City
           Council.
         ∗ Continue to explore opportunities for the sharing of personnel and/or equipment resources with other local agencies.

        Communicate & Engage with Citizens
         ∗ Support and encourage the Department's Community Services Division to create/implement programs designed to incorporate
           citizen involvement for the purpose of enhancing communities.
