Summary:
The City of Arlington has experienced a reduction in crime Crime Rate Reduction Project:

Reporting System (NIBRS). This system captures more
detailed information for each single crime occurrence
rather than the traditional Uniform Crime Report (UCR),
which is based on a hierarchy summary reporting system. Crime Rate Reduction Project:
NIBRS data identifies with precision when and where a Crimes Against Property*
crime takes place, what type of crime occurred, and the

characteristics of its victims and perpetrators. While the

UCR data will be used for historical and overall 4,500
benchmarking of crime statistics, NIBRS data will provide 4,000
us with more defined, granular detail of the crime in our 3,500
city. This will help the department’s overall crime 3,000
