Stormwater Fund
On April 9, 1991, the City of Bedford established a utility to construct, operate, and maintain a stormwater
utility system. This action established a stormwater drainage charge and monthly stormwater utility system
fees. This utility system is authorized and regulated by Federal and State statutes, including Texas Local
Government Code Chapter 552 Subchapter C, commonly referred to as the Municipal Drainage Utility
Systems Act, and the City of Bedford Code of Ordinances Article V. - Stormwater Utility System.
This enterprise fund focuses on the operation and maintenance of the stormwater utility system, which
manages stormwater drainage runoff, including administration, repairs, replacements, improvements, and
extensions of the water and sewer system (directly related to drainage), financing and related debt service,
and billing and collection.
