Event Trust Fund
FY 2026 Operating Position
The Event Trust Fund is a program administered by the Economic Development & Tourism
Office within the Office of the Governor. The program allows for local governments to
apply to the State for funding to assist with eligible costs associated with hosting events
that meet the requirements under Texas Government Code Chapter 478, Major Events
Reimbursement Program Chapter 479, or the Motor Sports Racing Trust Fund Chapter 480.
The City of Arlington was introduced to the program in Fall 2009, on the precipice of
hosting major events in the upcoming year. Since 2009, City Council and City Manager have
approved numerous agreements in support of major events and the participation in this
program has successfully offset the costs of hosting numerous events each year. The fund
is based on the projected tax increment the municipality expects to see from "eligible
