COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT A GLANCE

               Budget Summary

The Community Engagement Department was formed to increase public involvement using the many
social media channels and digital media, as well as to create excitement that markets tourism through
sports, festivals, and creative art events. The Community Engagement Department is comprised of four
divisions that together focus on increasing communication and outreach efforts to involve the citizens of
Mansfield and build a sense of community between residents, businesses, and the City staff. It includes
Communications and Marketing, Neighborhood Services, Special Events, and Cultural Arts.

The Community Engagement budget increased 19.50% in FY 2024-2025. Two new full-time positions
were added – a Public Arts Manager and Social Media Content Creator. Other personnel-related increases
are from the redistribution of salaries and benefits among the divisions.

The largest increase was in the Cultural Arts Division. Funding to lease a performance/gallery space was
included in the budget, as well as funds to match a National Endowment for the Arts grant which will be
offset by revenue. The Special Events budget also increased significantly due to contractual services
related to Hometown Holidays and artist performances. Finally, the Neighborhood Services division plans
to purchase new volunteer management software.
