April 30 1 Estimate of 2020 taxable values received from Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD).
May 4 Distribute budget instructions and worksheets to Department Heads.
May 15 Prepare preliminary revenue estimates for 2020-2021 budget.
Department Heads submit 2020-2021 budget requests to Finance Director. This includes 5

year plans with staffing and capital planning.

May 22 2 Estimate of 2020 taxable values received from TAD.
May 27 Budget submitted to City Manager and Assistant City Manager.
Pre-Budget Conferences held between City Manager, Asst. City Manager/Finance Director,
June 3 & 4 Asst. Finance Director/Budget Analyst and Department Heads to discuss budget requests
and five year plans.
June 15 3rd Estimate of 2020 taxable values from TAD.
Receive 2020 certified appraisal roll from TAD and calculate Effective and Rollback Tax
July 24
Rates.
July 31 Final review and decisions on proposed budget. Prepare budget message.
August 15 City Council Budget Retreat - City Council reviews Proposed Budget and related issues
Publish Notice of Property Tax Rates/Tax Rate Public Hearing in newspaper and on

website.
September 3 Publish Notice of Budget Public Hearing
Council Meeting - Public Hearing on 2019-2020 Revised Budget, Public Hearing on 2020-
September 15
2021 Proposed Budget and tax rates, vote to adopt tax rates, and other fee/rate increases.
October 1 Fiscal year 2020-2021 begins.
