                                                    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

     The Animal Control Division focuses on promoting responsible pet ownership and the adoption and/or alternate placement of
     adoptable animals. Additionally, the Division is responsible for: providing humane care, treatment, and disposition of all animals;
     enforcing state and local laws; maintaining the Shelter, vehicles, and equipment in a sanitary manner that mitigates the potential for
     infectious disease transmission; promoting Shelter awareness and Shelter programs through the use of media, civic events, and
     presentations; and developing a strong volunteer base. The Animal Control Division incorporates citizens, volunteers, and the public in
     all facets of their operations and events.







                                                   FY 2019-2020 HIGHLIGHTS

        ∗ Participated in the Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Twelve Days of Christmas, resulting in a total of 42 adoptions.
        ∗ Sponsored several mini-outreach classes for the public focusing on wildlife.
        ∗ Sponsored an Adopt-A-Cat event over the Fourth of July weekend, resulting in the adoption of 30 felines and receipt of $630 in food
         donations.
        ∗ The shelter has utilized over $5,000 in donations towards the care of shelter animals.
        ∗ Raised public awareness to the benefits of fostering adoptable animals, for both the animal and the foster family.

         ∗ Continue to develop new strategies and/or opportunities to increase pet adoption rates.

         ∗ Continue to support staff development to increase knowledge on best practices in animal care.

        Communicate & Engage with Citizens
         ∗ Continue promoting responsible pet ownership by attending off-site civic events and hosting semi-annual Pet Fairs.
         ∗ Develop public education programs to enhance awareness of domestic and wildlife animals.
         ∗ Continue to encourage and further enhance Shelter volunteer participation.
