3. Promote livability and community pride by creating an “identity" for Azle and improving
the overall appearance of the City. Priorities in this area include:
• Improve highway and overall city appearance
• Encourage commercial property improvements
• Develop new avenues of communication with residents and businesses
The Azle City Council and Staff will continue to offer the highest quality services and promote
livability within the city. Council and Staff will work to ensure the City’s priorities, which are
closely tied to our goals, are addressed in an effort to continually improve the quality of life for
the residents of our community.
Accomplishments
The following is a list of accomplishments over the past year. It is evident from this list that the
City goals and strategies can work as the framework for identifying targets for action and
establishing plans for the future.
Plan and prepare for the future needs of a growing city.
• The Municipal Complex which includes separate buildings for City Hall and the
Police Department was completed in October 2019. Final construction cost was
approximately $270,000 less than the contracted amount of $12.6 million;
• Completed street overlay on Gordon Dr., Rhoades St., Polly Ave., Toronto Rd.,
Victoria Ave., Ridgeway Ave., Valley View Ct., Crestview Pl., Blue Meadow Dr.,
North Melanie Dr., South Melanie Dr., and Lee Ct.;
• Completed construction of the Main Street Waterline Improvement Project as well
as a water line extension on FM 730 South; and
• Maintained water and sewer rates but the Sewer Consumption Rate rose
approximately 2% ($0.05).
Achieve excellence in city government services.
• Completed the new 800 MHz digital radio system and dispatch center for the Police
Department;
• Five (5) positions were added – Controller, Assistant Library Director, HR Generalist
and two (2) Police Officers;
• Two (2) Police pursuit vehicles were replaced, as well as two (2) ½-ton trucks for
Vehicle Maintenance and the Wastewater Plant and a ¾-ton truck for the Parks
Department. An ambulance replacement was also executed which will be delivered
by December 2020;
