OVERVIEW OF AQUATIC PARK FUND
NRH2O Family Water Park celebrated its 25 year of operations in 2019 and continues to be recognized as one
th
of the premier public water parks in the country. NRH2O offers outstanding attractions and services and enjoys
strong brand recognition in the region and the country. With more than 375 part-time and seasonal positions, the
park continues to contribute to economic development
and the local economy. More than six million guests
have attended the park since its inaugural season. Over
the past five years, average park attendance has been
213,000 guests. NRH2O sees approximately 90% of its
attendance from the Dallas/Fort Worth area with about
10% from other parts of Texas and visitors from out of
state. The park is a fourth quarter operational facility
with approximately 111 days of operation.
Revenue projections for fiscal year 2019/2020 are
$4,506,323. NRH2O will focus this year on smaller,
infrastructure repairs designed to maintain the park in
peak operating condition. Operating expenses for fiscal
year 2019/2020 are projected to be $3,239,052. Other
expenses and reserves for fiscal year 2019/2020 are estimated to be $1,267,271.
The water park market in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex has significantly changed in recent years. When
NRH2O opened in 1995, the park was one of three water parks in the DFW area. In recent years, nine additional
water parks have opened within the Metroplex. The addition of these recreational facilities, ranging from local
area cities opening expanded leisure pools to the public/private partnerships opening in multiple locations have
offered challenges, but also opportunities. As a result of population growth in the region, the market has
continued to expand with a growing number of people visiting water parks.
The park has a history of success in which it’s been able to pay for all its operational costs and debt service with
the exception of two years. Those two years had record rain fall during the limited operational season which
impacted attendance. The success of the park has partly been in its ability to invest in the park with new
attractions and improvements. As the park continues to age, investment in its infrastructure will be increasingly
important.
Most recent improvements includes a
new slide tower with three thrilling new 219,077 234,000 227,525
waterslides including an aqua slide, loop 202,515 205,000
slide, body slide and an exciting bowl 184,064 186,000
slide. The attractions are popular with
families and all ages.

Infrastructure improvements will occur
