Drainage Capital Projects
Department Project Title Project Number
Public Works Emerald Circle Drainage Project DR1901
Project Description
This project consists of extending an underground storm drain system in the Emerald Lakes subdivision.
Project Justification
The Emerald Lakes subdivision was constructed south of Emerald Hills way, across the street from Carrie Frances Thomas
Elementary School back in the 1990s. Since construction, the northeast quadrant of the subdivision has experienced settling under
the roadway, creating significant ponding issues after moderate rain events. A detailed topographic survey revealed that the extent
of pavement reconstruction necessary to address the ponding would be significant, and would result in excessively flat gutter
grades. Extending a storm drain system to this area will provide a more reliable long-term solution.
Note: FY 18-19 Funding comes from Drainage Utility Fund Reserves (120).
