BENBROOK HISTORICAL BACKGROUND


               Residential Development

               Benbrook is enjoying stable growth in the form of construction with new residences valued close to twelve million
               and with new commercial buildings valued at over three million.  Towards the end of 2014, four new residential
               developments were completed or under construction adding a total of 307 new residential lots in the following
               areas: Whitestone Ranch, Phase 4; Brookside at Benbrook Field Addition, Phase II; La Cantera at Team ranch, Phase
               III; and Palomino Estates, Phase II.

               Public Investments

               Public  Investment  projects  use  tax  revenue  to  build  projects  that  benefit  the  public,  such  as  parks  and  park
               improvements, drainage projects, and public buildings.  The following projects were started in 2014: pavement of
               alleyway from Usher Street towards Benbrook Boulevard, extension of Benbrook Parkway and Winbrook Drive to
               accommodate future economic development, and replacing and upgrading lighting facilities at Dutch Branch Park.
               The following projects were completed in 2014: Hike and Bike trail from Benbrook Community Center/YMCA to the
               parking lot at the Dutch Branch Athletic Complex, construction of alleyway between Wade Hampton and Usher
               Streets, asphalt overlay of two miles of roadway, and the Bryant Street drainage project to intercept storm water and
               covey it to an existing storm drain to minimize the impact of potential flooding in the area.

               Awards and Recognitions

               In 2014 the City of Benbrook received or maintained various awards and recognition for exemplary municipal services.
               These awards highlight Benbrook’s commitment to exceed the expectations of our citizens.  Benbrook was honored
               to receive the following awards: Voice of the People, Texas Certified Scenic City, Planning Excellence, Recognized Law
               Enforcement Agency, Community Rating System for Flood Insurance, and Government Finance Officers Association
               awards for Distinguished Budget Presentation and Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
