Summary:
The Police Department views Arlington’s secondary and Hometown Recruiting
higher educational partners as a vital source of candidate Program Participants

Independent School District (AISD) and the University
Texas at Arlington (UTA), began the inaugural class of the 30
Hometown Recruiting Program. This program is focused 25
on vocational education and real‐world experiences with 20
the department. This program also offered AISD students
the ability to earn college credit towards a bachelor’s 15
degree in criminal justice through dual credit courses. 10

Open only to high school seniors, the program is a yearlong

This year, AISD added a class section to the program to
admit more students. APD continues to look for new ways
to provide alternative solutions for those students that
are not accepted. Additionally, we are noticing more
student growth in the program as they continue to UTA
and TCC.
We currently have 25 students attending college in
Arlington, and multiple members who have joined the
armed forces or are attending college in other cities.
